Air Constitution

Air imbalances are pacified by sweet, sour and salty tastes. It is important to note that the taste of a food is not necessarily how it tastes when it is eaten, but how it reacts in the body. Reference this list for recommendations on what foods to add into your diet or what foods to avoid.

For the Spirit: Regular anointment with oil

Sweat regularly! Small, light meals throughout the day.

Gems: Ruby, Garnet, Sapphire
Metals: Gold, Brass
Aromas: Henna, Musk, Amber

Recommended Foods

All Nuts (Almonds, Cashews, Pistachio) in small quantities

Grains (whole grains only)

Bran, Basmati Rice, Wheat, Short Grains, Brown Rice

Vegetables (must be cooked, never raw)

Sweet potatoes, Sweet Peppers, Yams, Red cabbage, Onion, Radish, Carrots, Eggplant, Tomatoes, Cauliflower, Water Chestnuts, Turnips, Olives, Leafy greens in moderation

Beans such as lentils, mung beans, soybeans

Fruits which are sour such as: Cherries, Berries, Oranges, Plums, Lemons, Dates, Grapes, Peaches, Papaya, Mangoes, Kiwi, Avocado, Coconut

Dairy is sweet in the body and foods such as yogurt, ghee, warm milk, cottage cheese, and fresh mozzarella are good for AIR constitutions.

All-natural sweeteners are allowed (honey, brown rice syrup, raw cane sugar, maple syrup)

Sesame oil is best to use in cooking, all other oils should be used in moderation.

Spices which are especially good for AIR constitutions are: Sea Salt, Black Salt, Rock Salt, Coriander Seed, Kelp, Tamari, Garlic, Onion, Ginger, Fenugreek, Basil, Cloves, Mustard Seed, Black Pepper, Turmeric.

Beverages: Red Wine, Sweet & Sour Lassi, warm water with lemon and honey

Foods to Avoid

NO Millet, Corn, Barley, Rye, Buckwheat, Oats

NO Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, Green Cabbage, Green Beans, Squash, Mushrooms, Peas, Broccoli, Arugula, Zucchini

NO Chickpeas, Adzuki Beans, Fava Beans, Navy Beans, Kidney Beans unless cooked with the following spices: ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, asafetida.

NO Apples, Pineapples, Banana, Pear, Figs, Melon, Dried Fruit

NO Aged Cheese

NO Refined Sugar

NO Hot Spices or Chili Peppers (Sorry Anthony Kiedis).

NO Cold Drinks

For the Spirit: Moon Bathing, Flowers, Cool Air, Luke-warm Baths, Calm Conversation, Warm Milk

Be sure to eat breakfast!
