Shilajit (Sanskrit: शिलाजतु) is a natural substance found mainly in the Himalayas, formed over centuries by the gradual decomposition of certain plants by the action of microorganisms. It is a blackish-brown exudation, of variable consistency, obtained from steep rocks of different formations found in the mountains. Shilajit comes from the Sanskrit compound word shilajatu meaning "rock-tar".
Shilajit is a potent and very safe dietary supplement. It contains over 85 minerals in ionic form, as well as triterpenes, humic acids and fulvic acid. It is used to restore the energetic balance and contribute to the prevention of disease.
